作品について / About This Work
※本作品は、2017年度全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲《スケルツァンド》とは異なる作品です。
《スフォルツァンド》は、2020年に作曲した自身初のマーチ作品です。演奏時間は約2分で、アンコールピースとして気軽に楽しめる作品を目指して作曲しました。
「Sforzando（スフォルツァンド）」は、音楽用語で「特に強く」といった意味を持つ言葉です。タイトルには、聴き手に強い印象を残す作品になってほしいという思いを込めています。また、自作《スケルツァンド》と響きが似ていることから、少し真面目な冗談のような遊び心も込めて名付けました。
音楽はマーチの典型的なスタイルを保ちながら、全音音階と半音音階を交互に用いて展開します。さらにトリオでは琉球音階を取り入れるなど、場面ごとにさまざまな景色を想起できるよう、エンターテインメント性の高い内容としています。軽快なテンポで駆け抜ける、明るくコンパクトなマーチです。演奏会のアンコールなどで、奏者にも聴き手にも気軽に楽しんでいただければ幸いです。
本作品は、北海道教育大学函館校吹奏楽団「春一番コンサート2020」のために作曲され、2020年2月11日、同コンサートにて三笠裕也氏の指揮により初演されました。
Please note: This work is different from Scherzando, which was selected as Set Piece I for the 2017 All Japan Band Competition.
Sforzando is the composer’s first march, written in 2020. With a duration of approximately two minutes, it was conceived as a short and enjoyable encore piece.
The musical term “sforzando” indicates a particularly strong accent. The title was chosen with the hope that the piece itself would leave a strong impression on the listener. It also bears a playful resemblance to the title of the composer’s earlier work Scherzando, adding a touch of tongue-in-cheek humor to the naming.
While the music follows the basic character of a traditional march, it incorporates alternating whole-tone and chromatic scales as important musical elements. In the trio section, a Ryukyuan scale is introduced, adding another distinct color to the piece. These contrasting materials are intended to evoke a variety of scenes and impressions for both performers and listeners, giving the work a strong sense of entertainment.
With its brisk tempo and light-footed character, Sforzando is designed as a compact march that can be enjoyed casually, particularly as an encore piece.
The work was composed for the Hokkaido University of Education Hakodate Wind Orchestra’s “Haru Ichiban Concert 2020” and was premiered on February 11, 2020, conducted by Yuya Mikasa.
